Great Grimsby

The town of Grimsby is situated in the North East Lincolnshire; the central east coast of the United Kingdom It is a town on the river Humber estuary. The only two other town is nearby is Immingham, Britain's fastest growing port and secondly Cleethorpes.

The town of Grimsby is also called "Food Capital of Europe". This burgeoning food making business in Grimsby is historically associated with the fishing trade. For example, Birds Eye fish making factory is situated in Grimsby. Even though today Grimsby's fishing armada is a fraction of what it was back in the 1950s, it is still the fish doling-out capital of the UK. Grimsby has even held the fifth European Conference on Fish Processing. If there is one thing that that sums up Grimsby is has to be-Fish. It was once the biggest and the busiest fishing port in the world. The town of Grimsby is interlinked in naval history and still prides itself on a bustling dock area.

However, ever since the decline in the North Sea's fish stocks the fishing industry at Grimsby is processing has slowed down. However, it is still a large fishing port for which Grimsby is mainly famous for. It is still the largest fish docks in the UK. Like the port of Cardiff, Grimsby offers 24-hour contact for shipping, excellent non-obstructive high-speed road links, brilliant rail connected facilities to mainland Britain. Today Grimsby is much more than the thriving fishing port it once was. With a proud maritime heritage, the port of Grimsby is in a superb strategic location. Grimsby is a town of history, heritage, culture and enterprise. It is indeed a "name to reverberate. Grimsby is the best traditional fishing town in Europe.

Grimsby is also a great town to base yourself in, a great place to live and to explore the surrounding area. Regardless of the decline in the fishing industry, a visit to Grimsby is not over without taking a trip to the lively dock area. Just over the Humber Bridge, approximately 40 minutes drive, the city and port of Kingston upon Hull, Britain's leading foreign trading ports is situated.
