Derby is famous city of England situated in the east midlands. It is occupied by Shire County and placed at the side of river Derwent. Its population of urban area in 2001 was 229407. Derby also contains Roman, Saxon and Viking relationship. The old roman fort is placed at Chester Green. In derby cathedral church tower is third largest tower of England. The name of derby is altered by Danish and Gaelic, it is also declared from the unique roman name called Derventio.  Some oldest map shows different names such as ‘darby’ or ‘darbye’. Derby city keeps its name with Viking origin like some other cities i.e. York.

In earlier time Tudor Grammar School was heritage centre of derby which informed the tale of derby from roman time till today. Richard Felix who was the owner of this centre closed it and gave attention to his television career. The heritage centre of derby is now changed into hairdresser’s salon. New owner has much interest in history so he conserved this building for original heritage.

In past, Derby was the main site of industries. First time water silk mill was built by John Lombe and Goerge Sorocold in 1717. Derby rib machine was built by Jedediah Strutt in 1759 that was attached to the formation of hose. William Strutt, Jedediah's son also built Belper North Mill that becomes a center of visitor and is now iron framed fire proof building. The train system is formed by Bombardier Company and heat exchangers are made by Alstom  

Derby is situated in the middle of England that provides transportation links to many region of country. South Derby to London areas and north Derby to Sheffield and Leeds is linked by MI motorway passes to the east of city. The administrative centre of Derby is Matlock and unitary authority became by city council of Derby. There are two hospitals in Derby that are Derbyshire Royal Infirmary and the Derby City Hospital. Gwen Taylor who is actress built health centre for basic health treatment to the darwent, breadsall and cheddesden.

The two major lines of railway from London to Yorkshire and north east has been served derby since 1840. Now a day’s derby midland station communicated to London and cross country and east midlands trains offered lines to north east and south west. Small local stations also present in derby which have limited services. In Derby East Midlands Airport is placed about 24 km away from city centre which create Derby the contiguous city to the airport. This airport is served by many airlines like Bmibaby and Ryanair.

The Robert Ludlam Theatre posses 270 seats which provides various planned of amusement containing films, drama, dance, music, comedy, family entertainment. It also has place for workshops.

Derby County Football Club is famous institute of Derby sports. Derby has won FA cup in 1946. Derby becomes member of premier league after winning football league championship. Derby football club has been playing at pride park stadium since 1997. Derbyshire County Cricket Club is famous club which play all house matches at county ground. Cricket at chesterfield was re introduced in 2006, Derby also won county championship in 1936. Trailblazers play at Moorways Sports Centre that also represented the Derby in English basketball League Division One.  

In 19th century baseball was introduced in Derby by an American businessman, he built stadium for baseball in town. This stadium was failed to set up baseball in Derby so that stadium was used for County Football Club. After six years baseball stadium of Derby was transferred into Pride Park.
